Andrew Humphries is eternally grateful to his mentor and friend Bert Loan for introducing him to classical liberal ideas. He is very interested in Austrian Economics and the philosophy of a free society. Impressed by Ludwig von Mises' argument that good economists must be generalists and by the gratitude F. A. Hayek expressed for being dissuaded from specializing early on in his education at Vienna, Andrew became interested in pursuing a general education. Michael Strong's book "The Habit of Thought," a book about the role of Socratic dialogue in learning, alerted Andrew to the great books program at St. John's College. Andrew is currently a senior at St. John's College in Santa Fe, NM, pursuing his degree in the Liberal Arts, where he also runs a "Human Action" study group.
